Don't Turn the Lights On - Sprint 2016
|
Don’t Turn The Lights On shares fragments of collected teenage stories: moments of sexual awakening, adolescent longing, peer competition, strive for independence and doubts. Theatre Counterpoint invites you to slip in and out of narrative recognition, come and complete the journey with memories of your own youth.
This devised performance is constructed using principles from classical music tradition of Bach’s fugue: a form of call and response. Theatre Counterpoint aims to establish a connection among theatrical elements within the fugal structure. The performance conveys musicality without relying solely on sound: a journey where movement and text are played like instruments in a musical composition. Actions deliver rhythms; images repeat; speech is dynamic. |
